Hello everyone, I'm the independent developer of CuttyPic. The birth of this small tool came from a common frustration shared by me and my friends.

As a content creator, I often need to process various images. Sometimes I need to remove backgrounds from product photos for white backgrounds, sometimes I need to change background colors for ID photos, and friends who run online stores always complain about how troublesome it is to process product photos. Existing background removal tools on the market either charge fees, require account registration, or add watermarks, making them inconvenient to use.

One day, while researching AI technology, I stumbled upon several powerful background removal models, such as RMBG-1.4 and MODNet. To my delight, these models not only delivered excellent results but could also run directly in the browser without needing to upload users' images to a server.

This discovery gave me an idea: why not develop my own simple, user-friendly, completely free, watermark-free background removal tool that also protects user privacy? And so, the idea for "CuttyPic" was born.

The development process wasn't always smooth sailing. Initially, I chose RMBG-1.4 as the core model because it's lightweight and suitable for running on various devices. Later, I discovered that WebGPU technology could double the processing speed, so I added MODNet as an optional model.

The biggest challenge I faced was performance optimization. AI model files are relatively large, and loading them directly would cause browser lag. I spent considerable time researching chunked loading and performance optimization to make the entire process smooth. Additionally, while WebGPU is fast, not all browsers support it, so I added automatic detection to choose the most suitable processing solution for users.

After a period of development and testing, "CuttyPic" finally met everyone. It not only removes backgrounds with one click but also provides simple editing tools for changing backgrounds, adjusting colors, and more. For those who need ID photos, you can easily change background colors; for e-commerce sellers, you can quickly create white background product images; for ordinary users, you can easily enhance your photos.

I'm also trying to integrate the more powerful RMBG-2.0 model, but I'm currently encountering some technical issues. Once these problems are solved, I'll update immediately to bring you an even better background removal experience.

As an independent developer, my goal is to create simple, practical, completely free tools that solve real problems in people's daily lives and work. CuttyPic is just one of many tools I've developed, and I hope it brings you convenience.
